Spring, time for some impressionistic work

Enamel impressionistic image on copper

I have just become fascinated with the options to create with enamels. Cloisonne just blows me away and I think I will never run out of ideas. But now I find I can create impressionistic pieces with enamel and enamel crayons. My first attempt was a large piece on copper. I copied a photo I had and as you can see it is not horrible.

So, I got adventurous and tried it on a silver pendant and for a first attempt and I think it will do. And now my mission is to come up with other landscape and impressionistic images and make a series of pendants, earrings and bracelets.

Summer is around the corner so with tourists about to venture here to the coast I really need to have some interesting pieces that they will be able to take home as a reminder of their vacation. That can be a tall order but I am up for it.

If you are visiting here April 28thand 29thI will be a Days at the Docks on Holden Beach under the curved bridge. Hope the weather is good and hope to see you there. It is always a beautiful show.

I spent most of my career in interior design and the last 20 years designing restaurants in the Raleigh, NC area. Since I grew up on the coast of Long Island I headed for the coast of NC Ince I retired in Raleigh. I set up my silversmith studio and began creating sterling and fine silver jewelry reflecting my love of the sea. In the past year I discovered enamel and cloisonné. I was hooked. You will see many cloisonné and champleve pieces in my collections. My hope is that you will love them as much as I loved making them.
